Fostering is the heart and soul of our group's efforts. We can only rescue as many animals for which we have foster homes. It is in the foster home that our animals receive the love and care they deserve in their transition to a permanent home. It is here that the animal feels a sense of belonging and normalcy, and we can get to know the animal's personality so we can best match them with their lifetime human family. What is Required of a Foster Home? Love and attention, above all. An extra bedroom will suit a kitty perfectly. A heated or cooled garage works nicely for a dog or puppy. The pet would need transportation to/from adoption events. We provide you with food, litter and boxes, supplies, toys, advice and vet care. Whether you to choose to foster occasionally or continuously, fostering serves a noble purrr-pose. If you're interested, please contact us and we'll happily provide you with more information. Our foster homes say: "I have volunteered with several animal groups and fostering works best for me because it's flexible, you can do it in your home at your own pace, and it's not a big time or financial commitment. And what I love most about fostering is that it involves my whole family! If you like animals and want to make a difference, fostering is the answer." Debi H., Foster Mom Fostering is an excellent way for elderly people to have animals in their life without assuming the long-term commitment. The companionship of an animal brings enjoyment and purpose to their day. Perhaps you have a neighbor, friend, or relative that would find this program appealing and beneficial? "Since I live alone, having a cat or kitten in my home gives me a reason to get up in the morning. They are waiting for me and we have a routine. It's such a pleasure to watch them wash their faces after a bite to eat and they always enjoy a good brushing and loving. They have few demands and have so much love to give." Hazel B., Foster Mom Can't have pets in your building? Allergic to animals? Just love animals? Be a GodParent to one of our special needs or adult pets! Typically, these dogs or cats have a harder time finding a home and are in need of a GodParent figure that can help them feel special. Your donation will help defray the costs of food, supplies and medical care for the animal of your choosing. You will receive cards, photos and updates from your GodPet and we can even arrange visits. Also, if you become a GodParent for one year, we will include your name or business name (and a link to your web site if you have one) under the GodPet's photo if you wish. We kindly request $10.00 per month minimum, with a 4-month commitment for each GodPet sponsored. Special needs animals may require and have more than one GodParent to cover the additional costs of medical care. If your GodPet is adopted, you may transfer your sponsorship to another animal.
