FFAL to the rescue!
Dog being bathed after being rescued by FFALDogs rescued by FFAL
Forever Friends volunteers helped local authorities by retrieving 21 dogs from a terrible and sad situation on January 23rd and 25th. There were 35 dogs living in a small trailer and the owner was being required to "get rid of them" by authorities. FFAL volunteers retrieved these dogs, which were immediately bathed, groomed, and vaccinated before going to foster homes. The dogs were in suprisingly good health but were very smelly, matted and dehydrated. They range in age from 4 months to 1 year and are mostly small terrier, beagle, and daschund mixes...friendly, cute and coifed! They are now available for adoption.

This sad situation for these dogs is not an uncommon one. Many times well-intentioned, animal-loving individuals want to help the stray dog or cat that comes into their neighborhood. And, then another stray comes along and suddenly resources aren't that plentiful to have them spayed or neutered immediately and suddenly there's a litter or two of puppies or kittens. Not all of the puppies or kittens find homes and within a year the number of animals has tripled. In this particular situation, within one year the numbers grew to 35 DOGS!! What is a person to do? One--SPAY OR NEUTER any animal that comes into your life. The Humane Society offers low cost spay and neuters, or contact your vet. Two--CONTACT rescue groups in the KC area so the animal can be adopted and find a loving, permanent home. Better yet, volunteer some time with an animal rescue group and you then have a resource with which to better help stray animals.
